Supported Missions

As well as our local community involvement we also support a number of national and overseas missions with our interest, prayers and giving.

 

January

The Children’s Society“Is a children’s charity which wants to create a society where children and young people are valued, respected and happy. We are committed to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.”(Rep: Brian Nichols)

 

February

Church Mission Society“CMS is committed to evangelistic mission, working to see our world transformed by the love of Jesus. We believe that by making disciples, resourcing leaders and transforming communities we make our unique contribution to God’s mission.”(Rep: Jane Leffler)

 

March

Tearfund –  “An international aid and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world’s poorest communities.  As well as being present in disaster situations and recovery through our response teams, we speak out on behalf of poor people on the national and international stage by petitioning governments, campaigning for justice and raising the profile of key poverty issues wherever we can.” Rep: Valerie Moore)

Bible Society “Exists because millions lack the Bible in a language they can understand, in a form they can use or at a price they can afford. At the same time millions still have no understanding of the Bible’s value for them and their communities. We call this Bible poverty.” (Rep: Margaret White)

St Mary the Virgin Walton – All Missions Month

 

June

* Walton Parish Nursing“Provides holistic care – physical, mental and spiritual – in and around the community of Walton through Parish Nurses and a team of trained volunteers, showing God’s unconditional love irrespective of a person’s current belief and whether or not they may make a Christian commitment.” ( Rep: Vacant )

Hope Trust  “We aim to help older people in Felixstowe and the surrounding district because ….. no-one should be lonely in our friendly town.” (Rep: Maureen Budner)

July

Mission to Seafarers“We work in 250 ports caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Through our global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers we offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.” (Rep: Brian Percy)

 

August

Leprosy Mission “Our mission is to minister in the name of Jesus Christ to the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of individuals and communities disadvantaged by leprosy; working with them to uphold human dignity and eradicate leprosy.” (Rep: Mary Wakefield)
September

* Boost – Town Youth Worker –  “Boost exists to help young people in Felixstowe live life to the full. We do all that we can to ‘boost’ young people’s lives in as many ways as possible- educationally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and environmentally, to help them achieve their potential.” (Rep: Lynda Tempest. )

* Town Pastors – “Works as part of a team in collaboration with police and local authorities, and seek to be a positive influence principally on the streets near the town centre and seafront plus other night life areas. They offer support to vulnerable people, help de-escalate potential trouble and generally assist the police and other agencies.” ( Rep: Maureen Budner)
